A multi-modal hub is being constructed at Ta Xhajma in Gozo, which will provide 300 parking spaces and charging pillars for electric cars. The new facility aims to reduce traffic congestion in the harbour area, which is notorious for creating bottlenecks during peak hours.

To facilitate your commute, a Park and Ride facility will be available, with six electric buses running every 10 minutes during rush hour between 5am and 9am, and 4pm to 7pm. Buses will depart every 30 minutes at other times, with the last service finishing at 9pm to cater for Gozitan employees who work a late shift in Malta. Best of all, the shuttle service is free of charge!

This initiative not only addresses the shortage of parking spaces in Mgarr Harbour, but also promotes greener and cleaner modes of transportation as part of the EcoGozo vision. The electric buses have already been in operation since 2021 from the Heliport area, but the new multi-modal hub facility provides a more streamlined solution with free parking and shuttle service.

In addition to its transportation facilities, the multi-modal hub will integrate a green open space for recreation. So, whether you’re heading to Malta for business or leisure, the new Park and Ride facility from the multi-modal hub in Xewkija will make your journey much smoother and more enjoyable.
